Engine problem – Thursday – 25/04/24 – 1145 to 1330 (32)
A boat off the Thornton Bar with 7 POB reported an engine problem and requested assistance. Weather conditions were good with a wind from the NNE at 8 kts and slight sea. Whakatane Rescue II was tasked and towed the vessel back to Whakatane.
Fuel problem – Wednesday – 24/04/24 – 1300 to 1640 (31)
A boat with 3 POB reported 10nm North of Whakatane with a fuel problem and requested assistance. Sea conditions were good with a low swell. Whakatane Rescue II was launched, located the vessel and towed it back to Whakatane.
Engine problem – Tuesday – 23/04/24 – 1755 to 1900 (30)
A boat with 4 POB off the Whakatane Bar reported an engine problem and requested a tow across the bar. Conditions were good with a WNW wind of 10kts, a low swell and an incoming tide. Whakatane Rescue II was launched and towed the vessel safely across the Bar.
Battery problem – Monday – 1/04/24 – 1420 to 1745 (29)
A boat 10nm North of White Is with 2 pob reported a battery problem and requested a jump start.Weather conditions were good with a light wind and a low swell. Whakatane Rescue II was launched and located the boat. The jump start was successful and the boat returned to Wkakatane followed by Whakatane Rescue II.
Engine Problem – Monday 1/04/24 – 15:15 to 17:40 (28)
A boat 800m off the Tarawera River mouth with 3 pob reported an engine problem and requested assistance. An all stations call was made. Another boat offered to help and towed the stricken vessel back safely to Whakatane. a big thank you to the good Samaritan.
