Fuel problem – Tuesday – 14/05/24 – 1535 to 1730 (37)
A boat with 2 POB reported at the Tasman Reef with a fuel problem and requested assistance. An All Stations call resulted in a boat offering to help Fuel was provided to the vessel and both boats returned safely to Whakatane. A big thank you to the good samaritan.
Engine problem – Saturday – 11/05/24 – 1205 to 1300 (36)
A boat with 1 POB reported off Ohope Beach with an engine problem and requested assistance. Conditions were good , with an outgoing tide and a SSW wind of 12kts. Whakatane Rescue II was tasked, located the vessel and towed it back safely to Whakatane.
Battery problem – Saturday – 11/05/24 – 1015 to 1200 (35)
A 6m Kiwicraft boat with 4 POB reported 500m East of the Tasman Reef with a battery problem and requested a jump start. Conditions were good with a SSW wind of 8kts. An All Stations call was unsuccessful. Whakatane Rescue II was tasked and located the vessel. A jump start was provided and Whakatane Rescue II followed the boat back to Whakatane.
Steering problem – Saturday – 4/05/24 – 1105 to 1215 (34)
A boat with 2 POB reported 10nm North of Whakatane with a steering problem and requested assistance.Conditions were good with a slight sea and a SSW wind of 6kts. Whakatane Rescue II was launched, located the vessel and towed it back to Whakatane.

A boat with 2 POB reported off Ohope with an engine problem and requested assistance. Conditions were good with a low swell and a wind from the NE at 8 kts.Whakatane Rescue II was launched, located the vessel and towed it back to Whakatane.
