A 40m yacht reported by the Whakatane boat ramp with a flat battery and requested a jump start which was provided by Whakatane Rescue II. The skipper of the yacht was unfamiliar with the Whakatane Bar so Whakatane Rescue II escorted the vessel to outside the bar.

A boat reported off Ohope with a steering problem and requested assistance. The call was heard by another vessel who offered to help. The stricken vessel was towed to outside the Whakatane Bar. It was then towed safely across the bar by Whakatane Rescue II. A big thank you to the good samaritan.
