At 1812hr Police advised Coastguard that a person had been swept out to sea from the Motu River mouth. Opotiki Rescue was tasked to assist and provide sea based search and rescue recources. At 1834hr Opotiki Rescue was launched and was over the bar at 1838hr and on-route to the Motu River. At 1852hr a helicopter was also tasked to assist. At 1905hr Police advised that the person was on-shore and safe and all recources could stand down. At 1910hr Opotiki Rescue was advised to stand down and was safely back in port at Opotiki at 2004hr.
