A 5m fibreglass boat with 3 POB reported motor problems at the 20m mark off West End, Ohope.  The boat reported it had lost power and electrics and requested assistance.  Sea conditions were reasonable with 4-9kt wind from the west and little swell.  High tide was at 10.48 and outgoing.  Whakatane Coastguard made an “All Stations” call requesting assistance for the boat from other boats in the area.  A good samaritan which was inbound to Whakatane answered the call and towed the boat back to Whakatane arriving at 13.08hr.  Whakatane Coastguard sincerely thanks the good samaritan for its assistance.
