At 0830hr a 7m aluminium boat reported that an accident had occured at sea and it needed medical assistance.  The vessel was 2nm NE of Whale Island. The patient had fallen and badly cut a finger and was concussed. Sea conditions were good with 4kt wind from ESE and a calm sea with a low NE swell. At 0834hr Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist and provide medical assistance.  At 0849hr Whakatane Rescue left port and arrived alongside the vessel at 0903hr.  The patient and husband were taken on-board and transported back to Whakatane. An ambulance was waiting at the boat ramp and after being checked over by the Ambulance Officer the patient was transferred to the Ambulance and taken to Hospital.
