At 1249hr a boat with 2 POB reported via radio that it had an engine problem and needed assistance. The boat was 2nm NW of the Whakatane Bar. At 1250hr Whakatane Rescue was tasked to help. In the meantime another vessel had offered to tow the boat back to port. At 1312hr Whakatane Rescue was stood down and at 1319hr all boats were safely back in port.
